A Power Hour is Perfect if...

You need an IEP Review.

Your child has an IEP and you don't know what you are looking at or if it's going to lead to effective outcomes for your child. Talk through it in-the-moment, and have that Recording and Session Recap to look back on whenever you need it!

You need help focusing your advocacy efforts.

Your child has an IEP that needs a major revamp and you need help with what needs addressed first and what your best options are for fixing it that lead to the BEST results in the QUICKEST ways! We'll create a path towards getting that IEP whipped back in shape and how to get school IEP team buy-in to do that, too!

504 Brainstorm or School Followthrough Chat.

Your child has a 504 and you need to brainstorm accommodations and modifications OR you need help in knowing how to help the school team with implementation of accommodations at the preschool, elementary, middle, or high school level.

No Formalized Plan (yet!)

You have a child that is struggling in school, but doesn't have a formalized plan, and you need help to figure out what you should ask for and how to do it. Would they qualify for an IEP? What does that look like? And how does that work? Is a 504 better in my case? Why or why not? Do they have a read plan? Does the school utilize flex scheduling? We can talk through all the options here!

IEP Denial

You went through allll this work to get your child evaluated for an IEP with the school. Things were finally moving in the right direction. And then they deny your child an IEP or 504. What actually happened? What do you do next? We will make it all make sense and hone in on your options from here.

Parent Vs. School Team Tension

You are a parent who is in an advocacy situation where things are a little...sticky. While we don't provide legal advice so we recommend you seek legal advice for things like filing due process or filing a state complaint, Beth can help you with repairing relationships and how to move forward after advocacy got heated or a parent/school relationship that's going nowhere near being on the same page to support your child.

A "how did I get here?" moment -- totally!

Beth Liesenfeld (that's me!) is an occupational therapist that's been working in the field of people for 20 years. I was first an adaptive horseback riding instructor and served over 300 individuals with disabilities. When I became an OT, I worked in pediatric clinics and early intervention. When I started schools (even though I'd been a para before)...it was...interesting.

The jargon, the acronyms (alphabet soup anyone?!) and the downright confusion of IEPs caught me off guard that first year.

But. Asking lots of questions and over 80 IEP meetings per year (+ some 504's in there, too) I figured it out. And saw some major themes in parents who were mind-blowing effective at their advocacy (and *HINT* they didn't have to file state complaints or due process hearings to get what their child needed!)

Now I help parents figure out this wonky system and guide them in knowing their options so they can make the best decision for THEM to make in their unique situation.

Your child's precious learning time (and let's be honest -- your emotional energy!) is way too valuable to waste getting lost in the internet to find your answers. In 60 minutes you could have a clear path forward.

So let's jump in!

Was it helpful? Let's find out!

"I am very glad we made the investment in asking Beth for help auditing and coaching us throughout our kids IEP as we are at a reevaluation stage and our child will be entering high school next year so it is very important to us to have a very good comprehensive IEP in place.

I only wish we had sought help when they were younger. Beth has a lot of experience and was able to answer our questions. She went above and beyond in helping us. Thank you so much!"
